Monday night

….shock horror, after just mentioning I hadn’t had any sugar cravings, this afternoon pangs pinged and I was really itching to get my choppers around something sweet!!

……nothing in particular, no slabs of choc,  and I saved myself from impending doom by having a bowl of muesli with a splash of milk and a teaspoon of honey…it was enough for my darling wee brain to kick in and say ” yahee some sugar” and the rest of the day I was satisfied!!     phew    😉

…..going back to the “slabs” of chocolate, it made me instantly think of the “Famous Five” books I grew up with, written by Enid Blyton, inside these delicious children’s book were wonderful descriptions of foods they consumed on their many adventures

The lavish tea spreads and jugs of cream, bottles of ginger beer, the ice creams and cold tongue sandwiches… hard-boiled eggs, jars of potted meat and cucumber sandwiches, fresh scones with lashings of cream, simple spreads of cold ham, salad, bacon and eggs, plums and a ginger cake……………………….. oh I could go on. Is it only me that has fond memories that seem to stem from foods or flavours and smells?!?!?

……another one was the sunday morning radio show back in Auckland, early when curled up in my bed, I would quietly turn on my very first radio and listen with passion to a story about a giant but mostly I remember the crackling sound of him crunching into crispy golden skin chicken roasting over the fire!!!   … take a breath girl  move away from the fridge lol 😉

breakfast…yes beautiful fresh muesli love it!! and coffee

snack….8 big grapes

lunch…plate of sliced ham, 2 olives, 3 pickled onions, small square of cheese, rice crackers and a tomatoe

snack….bowl of emergency muesli with honey…..ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

dinner…..prawns and salad

footnote: I always have my prawns either in a salad or thrown in a stir fry, I don’t fry or batter the little darlings 🙂

prawns are sublime

especially with lime

fresh and delish

sealed with a kiss………..
